Does Dying your Hair Affect its Growth?

There are many myths about dying your hair. Some people believe that if they dye it, their hair will slow its growth. However, this is not true. The chemicals in dye can damage your hair, but they cannot damage hair that hasn’t grown yet! When you dye your hair, you are not contacting the hair that is about to come out. However, constant hair dying, and bleaching it without proper caution, can truly damage your hair. You’re hair can become so damaged that it breaks constantly, causing many split ends. This might give the illusion that your hair “isn’t growing”, when really, its just damaged and breaks off on its own.

Dying your hair won’t affect its growth but it might damage it in other ways, check out my blog about styling to see what heat products do, and my blog on the sun to see how it affects hair.
